Registering for a library card takes just a few moments. On presentation of proof of identity and current residential address, anyone who resides, attends school, or is employed within Franklin County, Ohio may obtain a Bexley Public Library borrower’s card. Children’s registration must be completed with the signature of a responsible parent or legal guardian, who will be required to show identification if not already a registered borrower at Bexley Public Library.

New registrants who wish to borrow videocassettes or DVDs must provide additional proof of current residential address by returning an address verification form to the library which will have been mailed to them at their residential address.

A library card is similar to a retail credit or charge card and should be treated with great care. Materials worth hundreds of dollars may be borrowed with the card.

Responsibilities of cardholders
  1. To keep the library informed of current residential address.

  2. To report lost or stolen cards immediately by calling 231-8741. Cardholders are held responsible for all items charged to their cards prior to the card having been reported lost or stolen.

  3. To assume responsibility, if a parent or legal guardian, for the appropriateness of library materials borrowered by children and to accept responsibility for the return of library materials charged to the card of a minor below 18 years of age.

  4. To take care to learn when borrowed items are due to be returned to the library to avoid unnecessary overdue charges. Written due dates will be provided with each charge out.

  5. To pay promptly all overdue fines and replacement charges for lost or destroyed items. Overdue fines are levied for the time period that an item is overdue and should not be confused with replacement charges for lost items. If items are determined to be lost or destroyed after they have been overdue, both an overdue fine and replacement costs will be charged.
