The Children’s Department’s collection includes over 45,000 books, magazines, pamphlets, and book and sound recording kits. With an excellent collection of materials for children of all ages, experienced children’s librarians are available to provide assistance and guidance to children and their parents in using both printed and computerized information sources. A number of computerized information databases specifically designed for children are provided through the library’s Local Area Network. Even the youngest child can begin to learn to use computers with the department’s CD-ROM interactive learning programs which can be played on special computers in the department.

Children’s librarians prepare programs for every age group, including toddlers, preschoolers, early elementary age, and even babies (and their parents or caregivers). Programs are designed to provide a socializing experience for children and are always educational and entertaining.

Please check Program and Events for a current schedule.
