The entire library is externally and internally accessible by ramp and elevator.


For Those Who Are Vision Impaired

An expanding collection of large-print books, both fiction and nonfiction, from classics to current popular titles, is located in the Browsing Room. The Children’s Department also maintains a collection of large-print children’s books.

Large-print editions of the New York Times, Reader’s Digest, and a large-print dictionary are located in the Reference Department.

A well-developed collection of recorded books on audiocassette and CD is available in the Audiovisual Department and audiocassette players are available for loan.

A selection of magnifiers to assist readers is available in the Reference Department, at the Catalog and Information Desks, and in the Children’s Department. Magnifying sheets are available for loan at the Circulation Desk for use with library materials not available in large-print.


For Those Who Are Hearing Impaired

All library services available by telephone are available through the library’s TDD. Hearing-impaired persons may use a TDD to contact the library to request materials, ask a reference question, or inquire about library services or policies. Call 231-8795. Responses to requests made by TDD often will be immediate, but staff may sometimes require time to find the requested information and call the TDD user back.

An extensive collection of closed-captioned videocassettes and DVDs, including feature films, children’s, and instructional material, is available in the Audiovisual Department.
